Immigration officers picked up an illegal immigrant from India after he allegedly attacked a man with a bat and was set free by sanctuary officials in Massachusetts.
Several states in the northeast, including Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey, and New York, refuse to honor immigration detainers and prohibit local law enforcement from assisting federal agents. Some even actively work to thwart immigration enforcement in the Democratic strongholds.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Dhaval Amratbhai Patel, from India, on May 18 after local authorities in Worcester, Mass., released him as he awaits trial.
Meet Dhaval Amratbhai Patel, an ILLEGAL ALIEN, who reportedly assaulted a man with a baseball bat in Massachusetts.
Patel was then RELEASED from custody by sanctuary politicians.
Fortunately, ICE apprehended him shortly after.

Local police arrested Patel on May 16 and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for allegedly beating a customer with a bat at the liquor store where he worked.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security billed Patel as a “sicko slugger,” adding “This illegal alien from India thought he could go around beating people with a baseball bat.”
DHS maintains that by refusing to cooperate with ICE law enforcement, sanctuary politicians are putting the safety of their citizens at risk.
“Sanctuary politicians must STOP choosing to release criminals like this into our communities and work with us to get criminal illegal aliens out of our country,” DHS shared in a post on social media.

According to the police report, Patel got into an argument with a customer at the liquor store. The verbal feud escalated, leading Patel to grab a baseball bat and hit the man.
Local officials in Massachusetts do not cooperate with ICE law enforcement due to sanctuary policies and released Patel without notifying federal authorities.
ICE took him into custody on May 18. It is unclear whether he will be held in federal custody to face criminal charges or processed for removal.
Patel illegally entered the United States at an unknown date and time, DHS said.
In neighboring New York, led by Gov. Kathy Hochul, lawmakers voted last week to enshrine New York’s sanctuary state status into law. The legislation imposes a sweeping ban on cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE, the New York Post reported.
“The message from @GovKathyHochul and her fellow sanctuary politicians is clear: criminal illegal aliens are WELCOME in New York. These policies make New Yorkers less safe,” DHS shared, blasting the new legislation with a link to the public safety threats Hochul is fighting to protect.
This follows nearby New Jersey, where state lawmakers passed three landmark immigration protection bills in March 2026, solidifying its status as a sanctuary state.
Daily headlines from Deported News and other conservative outlets highlight the Biden-era migrants who flooded the country and headed for sanctuary states. While many have since been arrested or charged with crimes, Blue state sanctuary policies allow them to walk free and protect them from deportation.
Last week, President Donald Trump attended a Fighting for American Workers event in New York and introduced the Angel Family of Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old college student allegedly gunned down in Chicago by another Biden-era release.
The suspect in her murder, 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina, is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who was bused to Chicago from Texas in 2023.
“No family should have to become experts in immigration failures, release policies, warrants, sanctuary laws, and enforcement breakdowns because their daughter was killed by someone who should not have been here and who should not be free,” said Angel Father Tom Gorman in a clip shared by DHS.
This week, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin blasted Democrats “garbage” Memorial Day political stunt outside an ICE facility in New Jersey. It’s the same facility where lawmakers and local officials tried to push through the gates last May, sparking viral political theater and several arrests.
“This is nothing more than a political stunt by New Jersey sanctuary politicians for fundraising clicks,” Mullin shared on social media. “There is NO hunger strike at Delaney Hall. There are no subprime conditions.”

DHS also highlighted some of ICE’s recent arrests in the state, adding “these are some of the HEINOUS criminals New Jersey sanctuary politicians want to be YOUR neighbor.”
As violent protestors continued to cause chaos outside of the facility this week, Mullin made a video railing on sanctuary politicians for saying there are no criminals in these ICE facilities.
“The left, sanctuary city politicians that are running this Democrat-controlled area, will sit there and tell you it’s because of the conditions of the facility,” Mullin said. “But it has nothing to do with the conditions of the facility. It’s the fact they want to release criminals back onto the streets. It’s probably not even what they believe is right, but they’re running for reelection. They know this is what their base wants.”
