Douglas Hus-Flores/Guatemala/Child Molestation

ICE agents apprehended Douglas Hus-Flores in Brooklyn, Connecticut. The Guatemala illegal alien faces charges of child molestation and is subject to federal immigration enforcement.

Hus-Flores’s arrest triggers two separate legal processes that will move forward simultaneously. A state criminal case will be handled by local prosecutors, with the charges carrying penalties under state law. At the same time, a federal immigration court will evaluate Hus-Flores’s case independently and determine whether removal to Guatemala should be ordered — a proceeding that continues regardless of the criminal outcome and is not dependent on a criminal conviction.

Hus-Flores has been placed in federal immigration detention and is scheduled to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge. If ordered removed, Hus-Flores would be deported to Guatemala.
