by G. George | June 14, 2025

Wendy Acosta, 41, a citizen of Honduras, was arrested by ICE New Orleans following her release from federal custody. Acosta, an illegal alien, has a significant criminal history that includes a conviction for an aggravated felony related to drug trafficking. Specifically, she was found guilty of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, a serious federal offense involving narcotics distribution. Court records show that Acosta was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for her role in the conspiracy, which involved trafficking operations across multiple jurisdictions.

Her arrest was part of ICE’s targeted enforcement actions focused on identifying and detaining individuals involved in the distribution of illegal drugs in the United States. Acosta had previously entered the U.S. without inspection and had no legal status to remain in the country. Following her release from incarceration, ICE officers took her into custody and placed her in removal proceedings due to her criminal conviction and unlawful presence in the U.S.

She is currently detained at a holding facility in the New Orleans area, where she awaits further immigration proceedings before an immigration judge. Her case will be processed in accordance with federal immigration laws, and removal efforts will be pursued based on her aggravated felony drug conviction and illegal status.
