by G. George | July 06, 2025

Estuardo Rios, a 40-year-old citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien in the United States, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans. Rios has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple serious offenses involving violence, fraud, and substance abuse.

Rios was previously convicted of driving under the influence (DUI), an offense that posed a direct risk to public safety. His record also includes a conviction for aggravated assault, involving violent conduct that resulted in injuries to another individual. Details of the case indicate the assault involved the use of a weapon during a confrontation, which elevated the charge to an aggravated felony under state law.

In addition to violent behavior, Rios has a record of fraud-related activity. He was convicted for possession of forged items, which included counterfeit identification and falsified documents used to conceal his true identity. Investigators believe these materials were intended to help him evade detection by law enforcement while living illegally in the U.S.

Rios also has a felony conviction for drug possession, specifically for being found in possession of a controlled substance in significant quantity. This offense led to a state-level prosecution and a court-ordered sentence, part of which he served before being transferred into ICE custody.

He has no legal status in the United States and previously failed to depart after being ordered removed. Rios remains in ICE custody pending completion of his immigration proceedings and potential deportation to Guatemala.
