An illegal immigrant from Turkey who entered under Biden has been charged with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl at a daycare in Sacramento, California.
Federal authorities want to take the accused child predator, Gokhan Bagci, into custody if California’s sanctuary officials release him. He has been lodged in jail since being charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age, according to local reports.
Under Gov. Gavin Newsom, California has become a hotbed of illegal immigrant crime and many criminal suspects are released back into the community. Federal officials have urged Sacramento officials to not release Bagci from jail.
Bagci was arrested on Aug. 22, 2025, by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation by child abuse detectives. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer for him the same day.

The alleged assault is back in the news after the mother of the 6-year-old victim filed a lawsuit on July 15 in Sacramento Superior Court against the alleged attacker and the center, seeking unspecified damages, The Sacramento Bee reported.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Bagci illegally entered the United States on Nov. 21, 2023. He crossed the southern border and was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The Biden administration released him into the country, DHS said. On Dec. 12, 2023, he flew to Istanbul, Turkey, and illegally reentered the country a second time by crossing the southern border on Sept. 17, 2024.
“We are calling on Governor Gavin Newsom and his fellow sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this sicko from jail and to cooperate with ICE law enforcement,” DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said.
The incident allegedly occurred in July 2025 at a daycare where 26-year-old Bagci was working. He reportedly lured the young girl into a closet pretending to play hide-and-seek.
According to the 11-page civil complaint, Bagci’s uncle and center owner Musa Bagci “created and tolerated the conditions that made this abuse possible.”
Bagci worked at the Mather Childcare Center that largely served the area’s Turkish immigrant community, said sheriff’s officials.
The victim’s mother made a report to police that Bagci sexually assaulted the girl in the closet. He touched the child’s genital area and rubbed against her so forcefully that the child was left with severe bruises, according to the lawsuit.
He then allegedly brought the girl into a bathroom and raped her that same day, authorities said.
The child told her mother about the alleged assault and said that “she did not want to go to school the next day and asked her mother to make sure Bagci did not hurt her again,” according to the lawsuit.
The suit alleges Bagci was hired to work around young children without a background check, and he was allowed to be alone and out of sight with children.
“The conduct of Bagci in sexually molesting and raping a six-year-old child entrusted to his care was extreme and outrageous, exceeding all bounds of decency tolerated in a civilized community,” attorneys said in the lawsuit.
The Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau and the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division opened an investigation and interviewed the child following the mother’s police report.
Investigators believed there could be additional victims who are current and former attendees of the daycare, FOX 40 reported following his arrest last year.
The Bee reported Bagci remains held in Sacramento County custody in lieu of $200,000 bail on the abuse allegations. His next hearing is in Sacramento Superior Court.
