Federal officials announced another 1,200 illegal immigrants are off the streets in the Atlanta area as federal agents continue to ramp up arrests and deportations nationwide.
Dubbed “Operation Safe Community – Atlanta,” the coordinated sweep in Georgia nabbed 720 illegal immigrants who have criminal histories in the United States, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said.
The group includes violent offenders accused or convicted of sex assault, crimes against children, aggravated assault, drug crimes, lewd and lascivious acts, burglary, weapons crimes, driving while intoxicated and more.
“Removing these criminal alien offenders from Georgia neighborhoods makes for much safer communities, and that is exactly what the men and women of ICE work to accomplish every day across our great nation,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Acting Assistant Director Patricia Hyde said.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said the agency topped 50,000 arrests in July as the Trump administration pushes for mass arrests and removals.
ICE officials said was the highest monthly arrest total ever, boasting back-to-back record setting months with 43,000 arrests recorded in June.

ICE officers arrested five illegal immigrants at the address of a trucking company known for employing illegal workers, ICE officials shared in a news release.
The agency released the names of a few top offenders now in ICE custody, including:
Fabian Pineda-Garcia, from Mexico, has prior criminal convictions for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute at least 500 grams of methamphetamine and driving while intoxicated.
Salvadoran national Jose Felix Amaya-Pineda was arrested for domestic battery/family violence, cruelty to children, disorderly conduct, and driving while intoxicated.
Two women from Romania, including Elena Marin, who had prior arrests for theft by deception and petit larceny, and Lina Sava, whose criminal history includes theft – movable property.
Armando Loma-Cristo, from Mexico, who was previously arrests for DUI, supplying alcohol to underage persons, child endangerment and driving without a valid license.
Mexican national Ivan Flores-Dircio, a sex offender with criminal convictions for sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Daniel Hernandez-Rodriguez, also from Mexico, who has prior criminal convictions for DUI, endangering a child and probation violation.
Honduran national Hector Jose Hernandez-Fuentes, who was arrested for cruelty to children-1st degree and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers.
Jose Manuel Maciel-Hernandez, from Mexico, who has prior criminal arrests for aggravated assault, reckless conduct, cruelty to children, possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, and unauthorized discharge of firearm.
ERO Executive Associate Director Marcos Charles appeared on “Fox & Friends” to discuss the Georgia enforcement operation, calling it a “great success.”
The majority of the arrests were made in the Atlanta metro area and surrounding suburbs, but agents did nab migrants across the state.
“We’re talking about sex crimes, assault and battery, some with DUI convictions, domestic violence,” Charles said. “These individuals needed to be taken off the street, not only because they’re criminals, but because they are here illegally in the United States.”
Charles said agents have adapted their tactics to make more targeted arrests and avoid public backlash, Fox News reported. The ultimate goal is keeping communities safe and removing dangerous offenders from the streets.
“What we’ve done is we’ve adapted to that, not only with additional training, but we’ve adapted our methodology on how we conduct these enforcement efforts and our arrest methods,” Charles said. “We’re [going to] be traveling all over the United States doing the same thing.”
DHS also continues to announce deportations of murderers, drug traffickers and other criminals, noting 80% of Americans support common sense efforts to deport criminal illegals from the country.
