Three Venezuelan migrants hired to help with flood recovery at a Walmart store allegedly stole from it instead and are now in federal immigration custody.
The three suspects were charged with larceny after two thefts occurred on the same day in West Virginia. In one case, $21,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from a secure display at a Walmart store.
Local authorities have since turned them over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as they await removal proceedings.
They were reportedly working for a Texas-based company and hired to help with flood restoration at a Walmart store in Weston, W.Va., WDTV 5 News reported.
Both incidents occurred on Sunday, July 26, after an asset protection officer noticed the items had been stolen.
Two suspects, Deivis Willyan Diaz, 23, and Daniel Alberto Arias Ramirez, 27, were arrested and charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony related to the Walmart jewelry heist.
A third individual, Oscar Jose Hernandez Silva, 37, was arrested for a separate petit larceny charge. He is another employee from the cleanup and allegedly stole a smart ring.
The three men entered the country illegally and were released into the country by the Biden Administration, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said.
“THREE Biden-released illegal alien THIEVES have been ARRESTED by ICE,” DHS announced on social media. “These criminals NEVER should have been in our country — and now, they will all be DEPORTED.”

Diaz’s criminal history includes arrests for assault and carrying a concealed weapon in Colorado. Diaz illegally entered the United States through Texas in April 2024, DHS said.
Ramirez illegally entered the United States through Texas in December 2023. An immigration judge issued Ramirez a final order of removal on Dec. 4, 2024.
Hernandez Silva illegally entered the United States through California in May 2024.
“Thanks to our state and local partners, these criminals are now in ICE custody and we will REMOVE them from our country,” DHS officials said in a news release detailing their immigration records.
West Virginia State Police said the Walmart in Weston was hit by six thieves as it was undergoing repairs from flood damage, per WDTV. State police were shown the video of suspects breaking a glass case and stealing more than 50 jewelry items, worth approximately $21,000.
Police said all three men worked for the same company, JCSA Services, which handles property restoration, construction and remodeling. The company was hired to help with the flood cleanup at the Weston Walmart.
Troopers said they were also able to recover a portion of the stolen jewelry and the investigation is ongoing, WCHS 8 News reported.
