The manager of an upscale Argentine steakhouse in Miami remains behind bars for second-degree murder and an immigration hold after police discovered a bloody scene in his high-rise apartment.
Stefano Eduardo Cremasco-Cicero, 36, is accused of stabbing his mother to death in an apparent domestic dispute. Police found him covered in blood and his mother dead from multiple stab wounds early Friday, Sept. 4, in the Brickell neighborhood.
He was booked into Miami-Dade County Jail for second-degree murder with a weapon. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also lodged an immigration detainer.
In a bizarre series of events, Cremasco-Cicero allegedly stabbed his mother and then left his apartment carrying a knife.

He eventually rode an elevator to the building’s lobby, where he opened the door for a food delivery driver and asked her to call 911, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News.
Miami police responded about 4:47 a.m. Sept. 4 to the Solitair Brickell, described as a 50-floor luxury apartment building. Officers found Cremasco-Cicero in the lobby with blood on his hands, clothing and shoes, authorities said.
Once inside his apartment, police discovered a woman “lying on her side in a recovery position, fully clothed, covered in blood” and suffering from multiple apparent stab wounds, according to the arrest report.
Miami Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead shortly after 5 a.m., according to the report.
Police identified the victim as Cremasco-Cicero’s mother but did not disclose her age, name or a possible motive. She was visiting from Mexico and staying with her son, authorities said.
According to the arrest report, Cremasco-Cicero and his wife have been the only people listed on the apartment’s lease since July 23, 2024. He was living in Miami through an investor visa, Local 10 reported.
The Miami Herald identified Cremasco-Cicero as the manager of 1986 Steakhouse, an authentic Argentine steakhouse in Coconut Grove.
A U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that Cremasco-Cicero is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.
“We are calling on Florida to honor our detainer,” the DHS spokesperson said. “His claims will be heard by an immigration judge and he will receive due process. This administration will not ignore the rule of law.”
In the lobby, Cremasco-Cicero reportedly called 911 himself but handed the phone to the delivery driver. She gave the dispatcher the building’s address and became a witness, Local 10 News reported.
She told investigators she noticed blood on him while they waited for police, according to the report. She later gave his phone to responding officers.
Cremasco-Cicero reportedly told officers, “I was defending myself.”
Investigators reviewed surveillance video and building access records in the hours leading up to the alleged murder.
Surveillance video showed Cremasco-Cicero and his mother returning to the building together at about 10:32 p.m. Thursday, according to Local 10. They were reportedly alone in the elevator.
Hours later surveillance footage showed Cremasco-Cicero entering an elevator about 4:26 a.m., Fox News reported. He was wearing a white shirt, khaki pants and white shoes that appeared to be covered in blood. Police said he was carrying a knife.
He allegedly stepped out of the elevator, dropped the knife, picked it back up and took another elevator upstairs, according to the report.
Based on the footage, Cremasco-Cicero reportedly changed into a long-sleeved blue shirt and walked out of the building while using his phone. Minutes later, he went back inside and sat on a couch in the lobby before flagging down the delivery driver, Local 10 reported.
Cremasco-Cicero’s wife, who was in France at the time, told detectives that his mother had been staying with him and the two went out for dinner earlier that evening.
The two weren’t particularly close since his parents divorced, the wife said, telling investigators that her husband was under stress while preparing to open a restaurant in Coconut Grove.
Cremasco-Cicero did interview with WSVN-TV about his restaurant in July, Fox News reported.
Homicide detectives obtained a search warrant and allegedly recovered several kitchen knives with blood on them, blood-spattered shirts, broken glass and a broken wine bottle from the apartment, according to Local 10 News.
Investigators recovered other evidence, including two pairs of white shoes covered in blood, a pair of glasses, a phone charger and Cremasco-Cicero’s iPhone 17, during a search of the lobby, according to the arrest report.
Police also observed small cuts on his hands and blood residue on his body and clothing. Crime scene investigators photographed Cremasco-Cicero and collected his clothing, authorities said.
According to Miami-Dade Corrections records, Cremasco-Cicero remains lodged at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for second-degree murder. The records list no bond, a domestic-violence designation and a hold for immigration authorities.
