Off-duty FBI agent kills illegal who attacked Chicago homeless encampment

A Venezuelan illegal immigrant was shot and killed this week by an off-duty FBI agent who encountered the alien allegedly shooting at a Chicago homeless encampment.

The shootings took place on Monday in Chicago’s Lower West Side, with initial local news reports only saying a man was killed in an FBI-related shooting.

Fox News confirmed the illegal was Oscar D. Corrales, 27. The off-duty agent, who was driving at the time, stopped and engaged Corrales, killing him.

Corrales was previously “caught and released” trying to illegally cross the U.S. border in October 2023 during the Biden administration, Fox News also reported.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security also confirmed Corrales’ criminal background – and his history being released – in a post on X.

“This monster, who was seen shooting into a homeless encampment, was RELEASED by the Biden administration into our country, completely unvetted,” DHS said. “Oscar Daniel Isaya Corrales is a criminal illegal alien from Venezuela with previous arrests for domestic violence, criminal damage to property, felony retail theft, driving with an expired license, marijuana possession, and several traffic misdemeanors.”

According to DHS, local law enforcement in Blue Island, Illinois also ignored an ICE detainer request for Corrales in December 2025.

“Sources emphasized that the deadly encounter in Chicago was not connected to an immigration enforcement operation,” Fox News reported. “The FBI agent was off duty when he encountered Corrales, and the shooting was described as an unrelated incident.”

The FBI’s Inspection Division is investigating the agent-related shooting, per agency policy.
