Yousef Mehridehno/Iran/Fraud

On June 22, ICE officers arrested Yousef Mehridehno, an Iranian national, during an operation in Gluckstadt, Mississippi. Mehridehno, formerly a lawful permanent resident of the United States, had his residency terminated by the U.S. government in October 2017 after federal officials concluded he had lied on his original visa application and engaged in potential marriage fraud. These findings resulted in the revocation of his green card status and placed him in immigration proceedings.

According to federal sources, Mehridehno came under additional scrutiny earlier this year. In February, his name was added to a federal database identifying individuals as known or suspected terrorists. Although details surrounding the specific allegations remain limited, his presence on such a list significantly heightened the urgency of locating and detaining him. He was taken into ICE custody without incident and transported to a secure holding facility.

At the time of his arrest, Mehridehno did not possess valid immigration documentation and had no legal basis to remain in the United States. ICE officers confirmed that he had failed to comply with prior instructions related to his immigration status, including mandatory legal updates and interview attendance. Given the combination of his fraud-based immigration history and national security concerns, his case has been prioritized for expedited removal proceedings. He is currently being held pending a final decision by an immigration judge.
