ICE New Orleans arrested Hermes Casanova-Ordonez, a citizen of Colombia and an illegal alien present in the United States, as part of targeted enforcement actions focusing on individuals involved in serious drug offenses. Casanova-Ordonez, age forty-one, came to the attention of federal authorities due to his significant ties to narcotics trafficking operations and his unlawful presence in the country.

Casanova-Ordonez’s criminal history includes a conviction for conspiracy with intent to manufacture and distribute cocaine. Court documents reveal that he was a participant in a broader network involved in the production and trafficking of large quantities of cocaine destined for the United States. The investigation, conducted over several months, uncovered evidence that Casanova-Ordonez coordinated logistics, managed financial transactions, and maintained communication between suppliers in Colombia and distributors within the U.S. The cocaine seized during the operation totaled several kilograms, carrying an estimated street value in the millions of dollars.

Law enforcement officials have stressed that conspiracies of this nature pose substantial risks to communities by fueling violence, addiction, and other forms of criminal activity. Cocaine trafficking remains a priority for federal agencies due to its role in fostering organized crime and endangering public health.

Upon his arrest, Casanova-Ordonez was transported to an ICE detention facility for processing. He will now face removal proceedings before an immigration judge. ICE has stated that his case remains a high priority given his involvement in transnational drug trafficking and his status as an illegal alien. Casanova-Ordonez will remain in ICE custody until the conclusion of his immigration proceedings.
