ICE New Orleans arrested Abdhul Shaik, a citizen of India, who was illegally remaining in the United States despite entering the country on a D2 visa. Shaik, 35, became the focus of federal authorities following serious allegations and subsequent prosecution related to child sexual exploitation.

Federal court records reveal that Shaik was prosecuted in the Eastern District of Louisiana on charges of possessing materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors. Investigators discovered digital files depicting graphic and explicit content of minors, some under the age of 12, during a search of Shaik’s personal electronic devices. These materials were uncovered following an undercover operation targeting networks sharing and distributing child sexual abuse material.

Law enforcement reports indicate that Shaik’s activities extended beyond simple possession; authorities believe he was actively downloading and storing illicit content over an extended period. During questioning, he offered little explanation for the content, leading officials to conclude he posed an ongoing risk to the community.

Given the severity of his offenses, ICE took Shaik into custody to initiate removal proceedings. His D2 visa status, initially granted for maritime crew purposes, was effectively voided due to his criminal conduct and the resulting convictions. Shaik is currently detained at an ICE facility, where he awaits further hearings before an immigration judge who will determine the outcome of his removal case.

Due to the nature of his crimes, Shaik is considered a significant public safety threat and remains in ICE custody until his removal proceedings are concluded.
