Oscar Obando-Iboy
Oscar Obando-Iboy/Guatemala/DUI
Oscar Obando-Iboy, a 33-year-old citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien in the United States, was recently apprehended in an enforcement action by ERO Seattle. Obando-Iboy had previously been ordered removed to his home country in 2017 following immigration proceedings. Despite that order, he remained in the United States unlawfully, further compounding his legal troubles.
Obando-Iboy’s criminal history in the United States adds another layer of concern to his case. He has been convicted twice in Oregon for driving under the influence (DUI), offenses that reflect a significant threat to public safety. DUI convictions indicate behavior that endangers not only the driver but also innocent people on the road. Repeat offenses, as in Obando-Iboy’s situation, show a troubling disregard for legal consequences and public welfare.
These convictions also raise questions about Obando-Iboy’s potential involvement in other unlawful activities, or at the very least, his ongoing noncompliance with U.S. laws. Driving under the influence remains one of the leading causes of fatal accidents and injuries across the country, and individuals with repeated offenses often draw heightened scrutiny from law enforcement and immigration authorities.
Given his prior removal order and subsequent criminal convictions, Obando-Iboy’s case has become a priority for ICE. His arrest underscores the agency’s ongoing focus on locating and apprehending individuals who, while unlawfully present in the United States, engage in conduct that poses risks to community safety.
Oscar Obando-Iboy will remain in ICE custody pending the resolution of his current immigration proceedings, which will determine whether he will be removed once again to Guatemala.
