ICE Los Angeles arrested Carlos Natanael Medina Arteaga, a 26-year-old citizen and national of Honduras, on July 10, 2025, following his identification as a removable noncitizen due to a serious drug trafficking conviction and unlawful presence in the United States. According to ICE records, Medina Arteaga has been convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine, an offense involving the manufacture, transportation, or distribution of a Schedule II drug known for its high potential for abuse and addiction. Drug trafficking convictions are classified as aggravated felonies under U.S. immigration law and carry severe criminal penalties as well as mandatory removal consequences for noncitizens.

Methamphetamine trafficking is prosecuted vigorously under federal and state law due to the significant threats it poses to public health, community safety, and its ties to organized criminal networks. Individuals convicted of such offenses often face lengthy prison sentences, substantial fines, and permanent bars to reentry into the United States.

In addition to his drug trafficking conviction, Medina Arteaga entered the United States illegally, without admission, inspection, or parole by immigration authorities. Entry without inspection is a violation of U.S. immigration law and further compounds the immigration consequences associated with his criminal conviction. ICE has not released further details regarding the specific circumstances of Medina Arteaga’s illegal entry, his activities while in the United States, or additional criminal history beyond the methamphetamine trafficking conviction.

As of the latest report, Medina Arteaga remains in ICE custody pending further immigration proceedings to determine his future status in the United States.
