Five worst of the worst: ICE arrests criminal aliens from South Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, El Salvador

Federal immigration officers this week arrested multiple illegal immigrants across the United States who are either convicted or accused of serious crimes, including child sex abuse, kidnapping, weapons charges, and ties to a known terrorist group.

  1. South African national arrested in Colorado

ICE officers in Denver arrested Simon Gous, 37, a South African national with a record of serious criminal offenses. Gous has been arrested for DUI, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and making terrorist threats. He remains in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.

  1. Mexican national convicted of child sex abuse

In Prince George’s County, Maryland, ICE officers arrested Abinael Beristain Escobar, a Mexican national convicted of third-degree child sex abuse. He was taken into custody as part of ICE’s ongoing efforts to remove criminal aliens from American communities.

  1. Illegal Guatemalan arrested for indecent assault of a child

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston arrested Ever Elu Cax, an illegal alien from Guatemala with a criminal record in Lynn, Massachusetts. Charges include indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, as well as public drinking, urination, and unlicensed vehicle operation.

  1. Mexican national arrested in Louisiana on child abuse and kidnapping charges

In New Orleans, ICE officers arrested Ancelmo Cabral-Gallegos, a Mexican citizen with a criminal record that includes sexual abuse of a minor, kidnapping, contempt of court, and property damage. He is currently being held pending removal proceedings.

  1. Registered sex offender from El Salvador arrested in Massachusetts

ICE Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Victor Vasquez Cordova, a 54-year-old El Salvadorian national, in Everett, Massachusetts, for immigration violations. Cordova, who entered the U.S. legally in 1983, is a Level 1 registered sex offender with a conviction for possession of child sexual abuse material. He was sentenced to probation in 2022 and ordered to register as a sex offender. He will remain in ICE custody pending a hearing before an immigration judge.

All five individuals remain detained under federal immigration enforcement and face further proceedings. ICE officials say operations like these are part of broader efforts to prioritize arrests of noncitizens with criminal convictions or outstanding charges.
