Jefferson Orlando Abreu/Venezuela/Weapon Possession, Drug Possession w/ Intent to Sell, Child Endangerment
On July 14, 2025, ICE Buffalo arrested Jefferson Orlando Abreu, an illegal alien from Venezuela, who is facing multiple serious charges in New York. Abreu’s pending charges include criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of a loaded firearm on school grounds, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17. He is currently in ICE custody pending the outcome of his immigration proceedings.
These charges—especially involving a loaded weapon near a school and endangerment of a minor—place Abreu among ICE’s highest priority enforcement targets. His alleged actions demonstrate both recklessness and disregard for public safety, with the presence of drugs and weapons posing a dual threat. Offenses involving schools and children are treated with particular seriousness under immigration law, increasing the likelihood of his removal.
ICE officers took Abreu into custody without incident, ensuring he will no longer pose a danger to the surrounding community while his case proceeds. Due to the gravity of the charges and his illegal status, he is subject to mandatory detention and ineligible for most forms of immigration relief.
He remains in ICE custody as removal proceedings are underway. Should he be convicted, an immigration judge is expected to issue a final order of removal to Venezuela.
