Ingrid Villagres/Guatemala/Felony Identity Theft
In July 2025, ICE New Orleans arrested Ingrid Villagres, a citizen of Guatemala who is illegally present in the United States. Villagres was taken into ICE custody following her conviction for felony identity theft, a serious offense that involved the unlawful use of another individual’s personal information for financial or personal gain.
According to federal records, Villagres was convicted of felony identity theft and sentenced to 24 months in prison. The crime posed a direct threat to victims whose identities were misused, and it triggered automatic immigration enforcement under federal law. Her conviction qualifies as a removable offense and an aggravated felony, barring her from seeking most forms of immigration relief.
ICE placed Villagres into detention and initiated removal proceedings following her arrest. She will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of her case before an immigration judge. Given the nature of her conviction and lack of legal status, she is expected to be deported to Guatemala upon conclusion of those proceedings.
Villagres’ arrest is part of a broader pattern of ICE enforcement against individuals convicted of crimes involving fraud, theft, or misuse of government records. Such offenses are classified as threats to public trust and are treated as enforcement priorities under U.S. immigration law.
