by G. George | July 31, 2025

ICE New Orleans officers arrested Ronny Jose Cabrera-Valencia, a citizen of Venezuela, on immigration charges following a review of his violent criminal history. Cabrera-Valencia, who is unlawfully present in the United States, was taken into ICE custody after it was confirmed that he had been convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon—a felony-level offense that poses a significant threat to public safety.

According to law enforcement records, Cabrera-Valencia used a weapon in the commission of an assault, elevating the charge to an aggravated offense due to the inherent danger posed by the deadly instrument involved. The conviction was issued by local authorities prior to ICE involvement. No additional criminal convictions were listed in available records at the time of arrest.

ICE officers apprehended Cabrera-Valencia on July 2024, and he will remain in agency custody pending removal proceedings. His arrest is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that foreign nationals who commit serious crimes within the United States are detained and processed according to immigration law. Cabrera-Valencia has no legal status to remain in the country and will face deportation upon completion of his proceedings.

He is currently being held at a designated ICE detention facility.
