Adilene Araujo/Mexico/Child Abuse, Assault with a Deadly Weapon

by G. George | August 22, 2025

ICE San Diego arrested Adilene Araujo, a thirty five year old citizen of Mexico who is unlawfully present in the United States. According to adjudicated and arrest records, Araujo is charged with child abuse likely to cause great bodily harm or death and assault with a deadly weapon. These offenses are treated as serious felonies because they involve a vulnerable victim and the alleged use of force capable of producing significant injury.

In the child abuse count, prosecutors typically rely on medical documentation, witness statements, and scene evidence to establish that the child faced a high risk of grave injury. The legal standard focuses on the likelihood and severity of harm, not just the presence of physical marks. The assault with a deadly weapon charge concerns the intentional use or display of a weapon in a manner likely to cause great bodily injury. Evidence in such cases often includes the recovered weapon, photographs, and testimony describing how it was used or brandished.

Following her apprehension, Araujo was booked into immigration detention for processing. She will remain in custody while her immigration case proceeds before an immigration judge. Standard procedures include confirming identity, compiling certified copies of criminal records, and coordinating any required travel documentation with the receiving government if a removal order is issued. The immigration matter runs on a separate track from the criminal case; outcomes in one system do not predetermine results in the other, but the charged offenses and any convictions will be part of the record considered during immigration adjudication.
