ICE San Diego arrested Osmid Arroyo, a 49-year-old Mexican national. According to law enforcement records, Arroyo’s criminal history includes convictions for weapon possession and for carrying a concealed weapon. He was taken into custody in the San Diego area and processed for immigration detention while administrative proceedings move forward.

Weapon possession offenses are charged when a person unlawfully possesses a firearm or other prohibited weapon, such as by lacking required licensing, being otherwise prohibited, or possessing the weapon in a restricted location. Prosecutors commonly substantiate these cases with the recovered firearm, serial number checks, photographs, and officer testimony describing the circumstances of the seizure. Additional proof can include admissions, fingerprints, or surveillance that places the weapon under the individual’s control.

Carrying a concealed weapon addresses intentionally concealing a firearm or other weapon on one’s person or in a vehicle without legal authorization. Evidence typically includes body camera footage, dash camera recordings, and reports detailing discovery during a lawful stop or search. Many jurisdictions treat concealed carry violations more seriously when combined with other offenses or when the weapon is loaded, readily accessible, or altered to evade detection.

Following his arrest, Arroyo was booked into immigration detention. He will remain in custody while identity is verified through biometrics, certified criminal records are compiled, and his case proceeds before an immigration judge. If a final order of removal is issued, officials will coordinate the necessary travel documentation with the receiving government and arrange transportation in accordance with federal procedures. Any state matters connected to the underlying weapons convictions continue on their own track and will be reflected in the immigration record as required.
