ICE San Diego arrested Juan Esteban, a 32-year-old citizen of Guatemala who is unlawfully present in the United States. According to court records, Esteban has criminal convictions for lewd acts with a child and for driving under the influence. He was taken into custody in the San Diego area and processed for immigration detention while his case proceeds through administrative review.

Lewd acts with a child is a serious felony that penalizes unlawful sexual conduct directed at a minor. Prosecutors in such cases typically rely on victim statements, corroborating witness testimony, medical and forensic examinations, and digital or physical evidence that documents contact and intent. A conviction indicates that the elements were proved beyond a reasonable doubt and often carries post release conditions such as supervision, registration where applicable, and strict no contact orders designed to protect minors.

The DUI conviction reflects operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs, conduct that endangers other drivers and pedestrians. Evidence commonly includes field sobriety testing, chemical analysis, officer observations, and dash or body camera recordings. Sentencing may include fines, license restrictions, treatment conditions, and jail time, with penalties increasing for aggravating factors or prior offenses.

Following his apprehension, Esteban was booked into immigration detention. He will remain in custody while identity is verified through biometrics, certified copies of his convictions are compiled, and removal proceedings advance before an immigration judge. If a final order of removal is issued, officials will coordinate travel documentation with the receiving government and schedule transportation in accordance with federal procedures.
