Omar Jimenez/Mexico/Fleeing a Police Officer While Driving Against Traffic

by G. George | August 25, 2025

ICE San Francisco arrested Omar Jimenez, a 34-year-old citizen of Mexico who is unlawfully present in the United States. Court records show a conviction for fleeing a police officer while driving against traffic, for which Jimenez received a sentence of one year and four months in state prison. He was taken into immigration custody following his criminal matter and will remain detained while removal proceedings advance before an immigration judge.

Fleeing a police officer in a vehicle is charged when a driver willfully fails to stop after officers signal to pull over and then attempts to evade detention. The conduct becomes especially dangerous when the driver travels the wrong way against traffic, creating an immediate risk of head on collisions and serious injury to bystanders and responding officers. Prosecutors typically prove these cases with dash and body worn camera video, radio and dispatch logs, witness statements, and traffic collision or pursuit reports. Sentencing reflects the danger posed during the evasion, with enhancements available when wrong way driving or reckless maneuvers are documented in the record.

During immigration intake, officers verified Jimenez’s identity through biometrics, compiled certified judgment and sentencing documents, and reviewed immigration history to present in court. He will remain in ICE custody while the administrative case proceeds, including custody review and scheduling before the immigration judge. If a final order of removal is issued, officials will coordinate travel documentation with the Government of Mexico and arrange transportation in accordance with federal procedures. Any additional state matters continue on their own track and will be reflected in the immigration file as they are resolved.
