ICE Harlingen arrested Luis Gerardo Mozo-Bazin, a thirty year old citizen of Mexico who was unlawfully present in the United States, following a stop in Laredo, Texas. According to arrest records, he was booked on driving while intoxicated and abandoning or endangering a child. An immigration judge later ordered his removal, and he was deported after immigration processing was completed.

Driving while intoxicated is charged when a person operates a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Prosecutors typically establish impairment through officer observations, standardized field sobriety tests, chemical analysis results, and dash or body camera video documenting the traffic stop and arrest. Sentencing can include custody, license restrictions, ignition interlock requirements, and treatment conditions, with penalties increasing for aggravating circumstances.

Abandoning or endangering a child addresses conduct that places a minor at substantial risk of harm. Evidence in such cases often includes witness statements, photographs, medical documentation where applicable, and reports describing the circumstances that created the danger. Courts weigh factors such as the child’s age, exposure to risk, and whether protective steps were taken.

Following his criminal arrest, Mozo-Bazin was transferred to immigration custody. Standard steps included biometric identity verification, compilation of certified court records, and coordination of travel documentation with the receiving government. With the final removal order in place, officers scheduled repatriation and completed the transfer in accordance with transport protocols. The immigration case concludes with the executed removal; any remaining state matters, if pending, continue on their own track and are recorded in the immigration file as required.
