U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 38-year-old Colombian citizen Julio Cesar Henao-Cordoba, who is wanted by law enforcement authorities in Panama for aggravated rape of a child, outside his residence in State College, March 14.
“The arrest of Julio Cesar Henao-Cordoba demonstrates ICE’s dedication to protecting the most vulnerable members of our communities — our children,” ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane said in a statement. “ICE remains steadfast in its mission to apprehend individuals accused of such heinous crimes, ensuring they are held accountable and that our neighborhoods remain safe for all.”
Authorities in Panama issued an arrest warrant for Henao for aggravated rape of a minor on Sept. 2, 2020.
The U.S. Border Patrol arrested Henao near Eagle Pass, Texas for illegally entering the United States on May 26, 2022, and the next day transferred him to ICE, enrolled him in the alternatives to detention program and released him into the U.S.
Henao reported to ICE in York, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 23, 2022, and ICE issued him a notice to appear charging inadmissibility and terminated him from alternatives to detention due to his residence falling outside of the range of the program.
ICE detained Henao at the Clinton County Correctional Facility in McElhattan, Pennsylvania, following his arrest.
