Chong Vue, a criminal illegal alien from Laos, has a final order of removal dated March 11, 2004, but remained in the United States for years before being targeted in a Minnesota enforcement surge. According to public statements from federal officials and multiple news reports, Vue was convicted of strongarm rape of a 12-year-old girl, a forcible sexual assault carried out when she was a child.

He was also convicted of kidnapping a child with intent to sexually assault her, a charge that reflects abduction for the purpose of committing a sex crime, and of vehicle theft, involving the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Vue’s case has been highlighted in coverage of the Minnesota operation as an example of a long-standing deportation order tied to severe child sexual abuse offenses that only recently led to renewed immigration custody.
