Hector Avila Vargas, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras, was arrested in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, on convictions for sexual assault and sexual offense against a child during a federal enforcement operation. Authorities located him and took him into custody, transporting him to a detention facility pending removal proceedings related to his criminal history and unlawful presence.

Court records and federal documentation confirm Avila Vargas’s convictions for sexual assault and sexual offense against a child. Officials stated that his case was identified through a systematic review of noncitizens with outstanding criminal convictions and immigration violations in the Saint Cloud area. Authorities noted that convictions involving crimes against children are among the most serious offenses evaluated in removal proceedings due to the severe harm to vulnerable victims and the significant public safety threat posed by individuals convicted of such crimes.

“Cases involving sexual assault and offenses against children represent serious criminal conduct and receive the highest priority in immigration enforcement and removal operations,” a spokesman said.
