Sudanese national Isa Adam, a criminal illegal alien, was arrested in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, after authorities flagged his prior conviction for battery during a targeted enforcement sweep in the city. According to details released about the operation, Adam was one of 14 noncitizens with serious criminal histories taken into custody in Saint Cloud, a group that included offenders previously convicted of sexual assault, weapons offenses, robbery, and other violent crimes.​

Following his arrest, Adam was turned over to federal authorities, where his battery conviction and immigration status placed him into removal proceedings. Officials described the Saint Cloud action as focused on individuals like Adam whose prior crimes, including physical attacks on victims, had already led to criminal court involvement and who were then identified for federal custody once located in the community.
