Cuban national Luis Perez Rivalta, 49, was arrested in Saint Louis, Michigan, after federal officers identified him as a criminal illegal alien with a record that includes domestic violence, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, and methamphetamine trafficking. According to publicly released information, Perez Rivalta had prior convictions in Michigan courts for domestic violence and OWI, along with a separate conviction for trafficking methamphetamine, placing him among offenders flagged as posing a heightened risk to community safety. He was taken into custody at the North Lake processing facility as part of an operation focused on locating criminal aliens with significant violent and drug-trafficking histories.

Following his arrest, Perez Rivalta was ordered held in federal custody while officials review his criminal record and immigration status in advance of removal proceedings. Authorities have indicated that, because of his repeat convictions involving domestic violence, impaired driving, and drug trafficking, he remains a priority for deportation action once all legal processes are complete.
