A Jamaican national charged in connection to a road rage incident in Pennsylvania remained in the country for years despite overstaying his tourist visa and racking up a lengthy rap sheet.
Christopher Leon Bailey, 27, was busted again on Jan. 23 after a violent road rage incident in a Philadelphia suburb. Bailey’s brother, a Philadelphia police officer, posted a cash bond Feb. 8, and the suspect was released without notification to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, officials said.
Immigration officers weren’t going to give Bailey another chance to walk free after skirting the nation’s immigration laws for nearly two decades. Federal agents arrested Bailey on March 16 at the Delaware County Court in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania, ICE shared in a post on social media.
“ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED W/ATTEMPTED MURDER ARRESTED BY ICE AFTER PHILLY POLICE BROTHER BONDS HIM OUT,” ICE wrote on X.

Agents from ICE ERO Philadelphia and HSI Philadelphia arrested Bailey before he was remanded to the Delaware County Prison — in a sanctuary jurisdiction — on March 16 when he appeared in court with his brother, who was in full uniform, ICE officials said.
The Jamaican citizen overstayed his tourist visa first issued in 2009 and was released again by the Biden administration in 2023, despite a previous conviction for a firearms offense in New York.
Bailey will remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings until the county issues a judicial writ, ICE said.
Bailey’s ICE detainment stems from a violent road rage incident in a Philadelphia suburb. He was initially arrested by local authorities on Jan. 23, after he allegedly threatened an individual with a knife and then ran over him.
Bailey was allegedly the aggressor in the incident that occurred in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania.
He reportedly nearly hit two pedestrians with his vehicle as they crossed the road and then chased them down in a parking lot and nearly hit them again.
After an altercation, Bailey allegedly then pulled a knife, attempted to stab one of the victims, got back into his vehicle, and intentionally ran him over before fleeing the scene.
He was arrested by local authorities and charged with felony aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving.
After reviewing footage of the assault, the charges were increased to attempted murder, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
DHS officials described him as a “serial criminal” with a lengthy rap sheet prior to the road rage incident. His criminal history includes robbery, larceny, firearm-related offenses and disorderly conduct, DHS shared on social media.
“This serial criminal illegal alien’s crime spree in our country is OVER,” DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. “It’s outrageous that this repeat criminal was released by an immigration judge in 2023 and allowed to victimize more innocent Americans including this individual he intentionally ran over and threatened with a knife.”

The charges are currently pending with the Delaware County Court in Ridley Township, Fox News Digital reported.
Delaware County is a sanctuary jurisdiction located outside of Philadelphia. The Ridley Township Police Department or Delaware County PA Sheriff’s Office did not share news of the Jan. 23 incident on social media.
Bailey’s case is one of countless examples of illegal immigrants who overstay their visa but manage to stay in the country for years. He also evaded deportation even with a criminal record.
He was previously arrested on March 10, 2023, by ICE in Philadelphia for violating immigration laws. However, following his arrest, an immigration judge under the Biden administration ruled that Bailey was “not a public danger” and ordered him released on bond.
DHS officials said Bailey has arrests and convictions in New York City for robbery, larceny, disorderly conduct and possession of stolen property.
In 2020, the NYPD arrested Bailey for criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction.
On March 1, 2022, Bailey was convicted in the Kings County Criminal Court in New York for criminal possession of a firearm.
Bis thanked law enforcement for finally taking this public safety threat off the streets, while ICE continues its mission to find and deport criminal illegal aliens.
“Under President Trump, DHS has unleashed ICE to target dangerous criminal illegal aliens, like Christopher Leon Bailey, and restore LAW and ORDER to our communities,” Bis said.
