An Ecuadorian national has been identified as the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in Morristown, New Jersey, on March 20 that left a 68-year-old man dead, according to federal and local authorities.
The case involves charges of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and comes as investigators continue efforts to locate the suspect following the fatal collision.
Authorities said Wilson Adrian Morocho-Necta, 33, is accused of striking pedestrian Justo Pilco-Tenesaca with a truck and fleeing the scene on foot. Bystanders called 911 after the victim was reportedly pinned beneath the vehicle. Pilco-Tenesaca was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Morocho-Necta is an Ecuadorian national who entered the United States in 2019 through the southern border and was later removed to Mexico after receiving a final order of removal from an immigration judge. Officials said he subsequently reentered the United States at an unknown time and location.

Law enforcement officials in Morris County have identified Morocho-Necta as the primary suspect and said he is currently at large. Prosecutors indicated that upon apprehension, they intend to seek pre-trial detention under New Jersey law.
“The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office is aware of the defendant’s immigration status,” public information officer Meghan Knab said. “Morocho-Necta is currently at-large, and we are seeking public assistance in apprehending the fugitive. We will be communicating and cooperating consistent with applicable New Jersey state and federal laws regarding immigration.”
Officials said Morocho-Necta was driving a truck registered to HC Home Improvement & Construction at the time of the incident. The company’s owner said he was aware of the crash and described the situation as distressing.
The Department of Homeland Security said Morocho-Necta remains the lead suspect in the case and confirmed that he has prior immigration history, including removal from the United States. Federal officials said anyone with information regarding his whereabouts can contact law enforcement through established tip lines.
Local authorities have not announced an arrest as of March 26.
