Abraham De Leon-Garcia/Mexico/Fraud, Assault

by G. George | June 21, 2025

ICE Salt Lake City, St. George Sub-Office, arrested Abraham De Leon-Garcia, a 48-year-old citizen of Mexico and an illegal alien who has been previously removed from the United States. De Leon-Garcia reentered the country illegally in 2022 without inspection or parole, in violation of federal immigration law. His unlawful reentry after removal subjects him to potential federal prosecution under 8 USC 1326.

De Leon-Garcia’s criminal history includes convictions for identity fraud and assault. The identity fraud conviction involved the use of another individual’s personal information to obtain employment and services, while the assault charge stemmed from a violent altercation that resulted in injuries to the victim. ICE agents identified him during targeted enforcement operations focused on aliens with criminal records and prior removals.

Following his arrest, De Leon-Garcia was taken into ICE custody and placed in detention pending removal proceedings. Given his prior deportation and illegal reentry, ICE has referred his case to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah for prosecution on the felony charge of reentry after removal. If convicted, he faces potential imprisonment prior to removal. ICE will coordinate with Mexican consular authorities and prepare for removal following the resolution of his criminal case.
