ICE New Orleans deported Adrian Perez-Lopez, a citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien previously residing in the United States, as part of enforcement actions targeting individuals convicted of sexual offenses. Perez-Lopez, thirty-one, came under ICE scrutiny after his criminal conviction and subsequent prison sentence highlighted him as a significant public safety threat.

Perez-Lopez’s criminal history includes a conviction for sexual assault—carnal abuse—a severe offense involving sexual acts committed without the victim’s consent. Court records indicate that Perez-Lopez’s actions resulted in substantial emotional trauma for the victim, underscoring the lasting harm that sexual offenses cause to individuals and communities alike. Following his conviction, Perez-Lopez was sentenced to two years in state prison, reflecting the seriousness of the crime and the judicial system’s determination to hold offenders accountable.

Sexual crimes, particularly those involving carnal abuse, remain among the most aggressively prosecuted offenses under U.S. law. Individuals convicted of such crimes are often subject to mandatory sex offender registration requirements and face significant barriers to any future legal status in the United States.

At the time of his deportation, Perez-Lopez held no lawful immigration status permitting him to remain in the United States and had exhausted all legal avenues to contest his removal. ICE officers carried out his deportation without incident, successfully returning him to Guatemala. Given the severity of his criminal record, Perez-Lopez is permanently barred from any future lawful reentry into the United States, ensuring that individuals who commit egregious acts of sexual violence cannot continue residing in U.S. communities.
