Alexi Carabali, 38, a citizen of Colombia, was arrested by ICE New Orleans officers following his release from local custody. Carabali is an illegal alien with a criminal record that includes a conviction for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. This charge stems from a case in which law enforcement discovered a significant quantity of cocaine during a routine investigation, along with evidence indicating distribution plans.

According to arrest documents, Carabali was apprehended during a drug enforcement operation targeting narcotics trafficking in the region. The amount of cocaine recovered, along with related packaging materials and paraphernalia, supported the charge that he intended to distribute the narcotics. Possession with intent to distribute is considered an aggravated felony under immigration law, triggering enforcement action for removal from the country.

Records also show that Carabali has been unlawfully present in the United States and had not adjusted his status or obtained lawful authorization to remain. His arrest is part of a broader effort by immigration authorities to identify and detain criminal aliens whose behavior poses a public safety threat, particularly in connection with drug trafficking and other serious offenses.

Carabali is now in ICE custody and will undergo removal proceedings in immigration court, where his prior conviction and unlawful status will be reviewed by a judge.
