Alfonso Gregorio-Lopez
Alfonso Gregorio-Lopez/Guatemala/Attempted Sexual Assault
Alfonso Gregorio-Lopez, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala arrested in Minneapolis on Jan. 7, has been convicted of attempted sexual assault involving a child victim. This conviction reflects a court finding that he took substantial steps toward committing a sexual offense but was stopped short of completing the act under the law’s definition. As a result of this felony conviction, Gregorio-Lopez faces significant criminal penalties and long-term consequences, including likely sex offender registration requirements depending on the jurisdiction.
Because he is unlawfully present in the United States, his case also falls under immigration enforcement priorities that focus on offenders convicted of serious crimes against vulnerable victims. After serving any criminal sentence imposed for the attempted sexual assault, Gregorio-Lopez is subject to detention for immigration processing and removal proceedings to determine whether he will be deported from the country.
“In the face of violent attacks, ICE law enforcement arrested pedophiles, rapists, and drug traffickers in Minneapolis yesterday,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a news release. “Every single day our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens from American communities. We will not let rioters slow us down from making Minnesota safe again—something Governor Walz and Mayor Frey REFUSED to do.”
