Angel Amaya/Mexico/Organized Criminal Activity, Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon, Burglary, Drug Possession

ICE New Orleans arrested Angel Amaya, a citizen of Mexico and known gang member with a long history of criminal activity and immigration violations. Between 2000 and 2025, Amaya was deported from the United States six separate times, reentering the country illegally each time. Over that same period, he was convicted of at least 11 felony and misdemeanor crimes.

Amaya’s criminal record includes convictions for organized criminal activity, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and drug possession. His pattern of reoffending and reentering the U.S. illegally over more than two decades underscores his disregard for both U.S. law and public safety.

At the time of his most recent arrest by ICE officers in New Orleans, Amaya had no lawful immigration status and was again unlawfully present in the country. He has now been placed in ICE custody and is pending immigration removal proceedings.

ICE officials have initiated steps to ensure Amaya’s detention continues through the legal process without the possibility of release. Given his extensive record of violent and drug-related crimes as well as repeated illegal entries, he will be prioritized for final removal from the United States.
