Angelica Ramirez/Guatemala/Felony Child Neglect, Assault, Obstructing Police
Angelica Ramirez, 34, a citizen of Guatemala, was arrested by ICE New Orleans after her release from local custody in Louisiana. Ramirez is an illegal alien with a serious criminal record, including a felony charge for child neglect. The charge involved allegations that she endangered the safety and well-being of a minor left under her care, resulting in her arrest by local authorities. In addition to the child neglect charge, Ramirez has also been arrested for misdemeanor assault, obstructing police during an active investigation, and larceny.
ICE officers identified Ramirez through the Criminal Alien Program, which works closely with state and local law enforcement agencies to identify removable noncitizens in custody for criminal offenses. Ramirez had no lawful status in the U.S. and was taken into ICE custody after confirmation of her immigration violations. A review of her immigration history revealed that she had not applied for any relief from removal and had no pending asylum or protection claims.
Following her arrest by ICE, Ramirez was issued a notice to appear before an immigration judge. She is currently detained without bond and will remain in custody pending the outcome of her removal proceedings. ICE confirmed that no previous deportation orders were found on her record, and she is now in formal removal proceedings for violating U.S. immigration laws.
