Armelando Echeverria/Mexico/Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances
Armelando Echeverria, a 39-year-old illegal alien and citizen of Mexico, was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans due to his serious criminal history involving drug trafficking. Echeverria has a federal conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, a charge that carries significant penalties due to the dangerous and high-volume nature of the offense.
Federal court records show that Echeverria was a key figure in a larger drug distribution network operating across multiple states. During the investigation, law enforcement uncovered communications, financial transactions, and direct shipments tied to Echeverria’s activities. He played an integral role in securing and transporting methamphetamine for distribution and profit, endangering communities in the process. Upon his conviction, he was sentenced to federal prison and served time before being released directly to ICE custody.
At the time of his arrest by ERO officers, Echeverria was residing in the United States without legal status and had no lawful immigration relief available to him. ERO New Orleans officers initiated enforcement action immediately upon his release, ensuring he was not returned to the general public. He will remain in ICE custody while undergoing removal proceedings through the immigration court system.
