Arturo Rivera-Gonzalez
Arturo Rivera-Gonzalez/Mexico/Resisting Officer
Mexican national Arturo Rivera-Gonzalez was arrested in West Olive, Michigan, on charges of flight to avoid prosecution and resisting an officer after authorities located him in Ottawa County. According to initial information, Rivera-Gonzalez had been sought in connection with an outstanding case and allegedly attempted to avoid apprehension when officers moved in to arrest him. During the encounter, he is reported to have resisted officers’ efforts to detain him before ultimately being taken into custody without serious injury.
Rivera-Gonzalez was transported to a local jail pending further court proceedings on the flight-to-avoid and resisting charges. Prosecutors are expected to review the underlying case that prompted the warrant, along with reports describing his attempted flight and resistance, before deciding whether to pursue additional counts. Because he is a Mexican national, federal immigration authorities may also examine his case after local proceedings conclude to determine whether immigration action is appropriate.
