U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested Carlos Lopez-Maya, a Mexican national with felony and misdemeanor convictions including attempted homicide, burglary, unlawful use of a weapon, and assault. The arrest follows Lopez-Maya’s extensive criminal history involving multiple violent and property offenses.

According to authorities, Lopez-Maya was convicted of attempted homicide, documenting a violent offense involving intent to kill that did not result in a completed homicide. He also has convictions for burglary, reflecting unlawful entry tied to further criminal conduct, and unlawful use of a weapon, recording prohibited weapons possession or use. Additional convictions include assault and various misdemeanor charges.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations took Lopez-Maya into custody following completion of his criminal sentences. He is currently being held in federal immigration detention pending removal proceedings back to Mexico. The agency states that foreign nationals with multiple serious convictions, particularly those involving attempted homicide and weapons offenses, face priority enforcement.

“Removing individuals with patterns of violent criminal behavior remains critical to public safety,” an ICE spokesman stated. The agency continues to target foreign nationals with multiple felony convictions for arrest and deportation.

Lopez-Maya’s case reflects federal enforcement priorities addressing individuals with sustained criminal histories involving violent offenses.
