Carlos Martinez-Jimenez/Dominican Republic/Trafficking Fentanyl, Illegal Possession Of A Firearm, Identity Fraud
Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Boston identified Carlos Martinez-Jimenez, a habitual criminal offender from the Dominican Republic, on December 8 during a routine screening of foreign-born inmates. Martinez-Jimenez faces criminal charges including trafficking fentanyl, illegal possession of a firearm, and identity fraud.
The encounter occurred through ICE’s partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Correction under the 287(g) program. An ICE spokesman thanked the state corrections agency, stating that their participation made the identification possible.
Martinez-Jimenez will remain in Massachusetts Department of Correction custody while his immigration case is pending. Authorities noted that trafficking deadly narcotics like fentanyl combined with weapons possession represents a serious threat to public safety. ICE continues working with state correctional facilities to identify criminal aliens held in custody throughout the region.
