Carlos Rodriguez-Perez, a thirty-two-year-old citizen of El Salvador who is illegally present in the United States, was arrested by ICE Salt Lake City following notification from local authorities in Utah County. Rodriguez-Perez is currently facing pending charges related to driving under the influence (DUI) after being arrested during a traffic stop in which he was found operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

Local law enforcement records show that Rodriguez-Perez had been previously cited for traffic-related violations, and this recent DUI arrest marks his most serious offense to date. Following his arrest, officers identified him as unlawfully present in the U.S., and ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) lodged an immigration detainer. After he was released from local custody, ERO officers immediately took him into ICE custody.

Rodriguez-Perez entered the United States illegally on an unknown date and has no known immigration applications or relief pending. He has not appeared before an immigration judge prior to this arrest and has no previous removal orders on record. ICE officers placed him in removal proceedings where he will remain in custody pending the outcome of his immigration case.

ICE officials confirmed that Rodriguez-Perez’s illegal entry and his pending criminal charges make him subject to detention and removal under federal immigration law. He is currently housed at an ICE detention facility in Utah while awaiting his hearing before an immigration judge.
