Catalina Marin-Castro
Catalina Marin-Castro/Colombia/Grand Theft, Identity Theft
On July 24, ICE Los Angeles arrested Catalina Marin-Castro, a Colombian national illegally present in the United States. Marin-Castro was initially apprehended by the Burbank Police Department for charges of grand theft and identity theft. Just one day later, deportation officers with Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Los Angeles, in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), arrested Marin-Castro pursuant to an immigration warrant.
According to officials, Marin-Castro had no legal immigration status in the U.S. at the time of her arrest and was found to be in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Her recent arrest for stealing personal information and committing grand theft triggered ICE’s enforcement action. Identity theft and related fraud crimes are serious offenses that often involve multiple victims and financial harm.
Marin-Castro is currently being held in ICE custody while she awaits removal proceedings. ICE confirmed that her arrest was part of targeted enforcement actions aimed at identifying illegal aliens who have committed serious criminal offenses.
ICE has lodged an immigration detainer and initiated formal removal procedures. She will remain in detention pending further legal and immigration review.
