Cesar Carreto/Guatemala/Homicide

by G. George | June 27, 2025

Cesar Carreto, a 39-year-old citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien in the United States, was deported by Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New Orleans following his conviction for homicide. Carreto had been residing unlawfully in the U.S. after entering without inspection. His criminal history includes a serious conviction for homicide, for which he served a five-year prison sentence before being taken into ICE custody.

Carreto was initially arrested by local law enforcement after a fatal altercation in which he was determined to be criminally responsible for another individual’s death. He was convicted in a U.S. criminal court and sentenced to a five-year term. Upon completing his sentence, Carreto was transferred directly to ICE custody for immigration enforcement processing.

ERO officers confirmed Carreto’s identity and Guatemalan nationality through coordination with foreign government databases and biometrics. He was placed into removal proceedings and ordered deported by an immigration judge. After all legal avenues for relief were exhausted, ERO New Orleans carried out the deportation.

Carreto was flown under ICE supervision and transferred to Guatemalan authorities without incident. His removal followed standard procedures for deporting foreign nationals with serious felony convictions. Carreto is now barred from reentry to the United States under federal immigration law due to the severity of his crime.
