ICE Los Angeles HSI Integrated Operations Group arrested Cesar Chavez-Centeno, a 31-year-old citizen of Mexico, on August fourteen. According to law enforcement records, Chavez-Centeno faces charges for assault with a deadly weapon and driving under the influence. He was taken into custody in the Los Angeles area and transferred to immigration detention, where he will remain while removal proceedings advance before an immigration judge.

Assault with a deadly weapon is charged when a person intentionally uses or displays a weapon in a manner capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. Prosecutors typically substantiate this offense with victim and witness statements, medical documentation, photographs of injuries, and reports describing how the weapon was used or exhibited. Evidence may also include recovery of the weapon and forensic results linking it to the incident.

The DUI charge alleges operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs. Proof in such cases commonly includes standardized field sobriety testing, chemical analysis results, officer observations, and dash or body camera recordings that document the traffic stop and arrest. Sentencing, if a conviction is obtained, can involve fines, license restrictions, treatment conditions, and jail time, with penalties increasing for aggravating circumstances or prior offenses.

During intake, immigration officers completed biometric identity verification, compiled certified arrest and court documents, and reviewed Chavez-Centeno’s immigration history for presentation in court. He remains detained pending hearings before the immigration judge. If a final order of removal is issued, officials will coordinate travel documentation with the receiving government and arrange transportation in accordance with federal procedures; any state criminal matters proceed on their own track and will be reflected in the immigration record as they are resolved.
