Similarly, on February 7, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Uqbasilassie Kiflemariam, a 40-year-old citizen of Eritrea, in Dallas, Texas. Kiflemariam was convicted in 2014 on three counts of sexual assault in Oklahoma and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, during which he was required to register as a sex offender. After his release, he failed to comply with these registration requirements, leading to his arrest by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Dallas Field Office officers.
Following his arrest, Kiflemariam will remain in ICE custody pending his removal to Eritrea. This action underscores ICE’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that individuals who pose a threat to public safety are held accountable.
