Darwin Morales-Garay/El Salvador/Domestic Violence, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer
Darwin Morales-Garay, 33, a citizen of El Salvador, was arrested by ICE New Orleans as part of an enforcement effort targeting criminal aliens with violent records and suspected gang affiliation. Morales-Garay is an illegal alien with a criminal history that includes convictions for aggravated assault on a police officer and domestic violence. These serious offenses reflect a pattern of violent behavior that has drawn the attention of both local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.
The aggravated assault charge involved an incident in which Morales-Garay resisted arrest and attacked a law enforcement officer during a domestic disturbance call. In a separate case, he was also convicted of domestic violence following an altercation that resulted in physical harm to a family member. Both cases led to criminal convictions in state court, and he served time in custody before being transferred to ICE.
ICE officers confirmed Morales-Garay’s affiliation with a known criminal gang, which further elevated his priority for arrest and removal. He had no legal immigration status and had previously entered the U.S. unlawfully. After his recent release from local custody, he was taken into ICE detention and is currently awaiting immigration proceedings that may result in his removal from the country.
