Duglas Abjul/Guatemala/DUI, Illegal Possession of a Weapon

by G. George | July 14, 2025

Duglas Abjul, a citizen of Guatemala and an illegal alien present in the United States, was arrested by ICE New Orleans due to a concerning pattern of criminal conduct that underscores his disregard for both immigration and public safety laws. Despite the lighthearted moniker “grumpy little Duglas,” Abjul’s record reveals offenses that carry significant risks for the community.

Abjul has been convicted three times for driving under the influence (DUI), a dangerous offense that places not only his own life but also the lives of countless innocent people at risk. Multiple DUI convictions reflect a persistent willingness to operate a vehicle while impaired, demonstrating a disregard for the law and public welfare. Each DUI increases the statistical likelihood of causing accidents, injuries, or fatalities, which is why repeat offenses are taken so seriously by law enforcement and courts alike.

In addition to his DUI history, Abjul was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon—a serious criminal offense, particularly for someone in the country unlawfully. Possessing a firearm or other weapon illegally poses an elevated threat, especially when combined with a record of impaired judgment demonstrated by repeated DUIs. Such conduct raises serious concerns about the potential for violence or further criminal behavior.

Given his pattern of criminal activity and lack of legal status in the United States, ICE has prioritized Abjul’s case for removal proceedings. He is now in ICE custody pending the outcome of those proceedings, ensuring he no longer poses an immediate threat to public safety.
