Edgar Baez/Dominican Republic/Assault and Battery On a Child
Edgar Baez, a 44-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic and illegal alien in the United States, was deported by ICE New Orleans following his conviction for a sex offense involving a minor. Baez was convicted of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14, a serious felony offense involving sexual contact with a child who was legally incapable of consent.
Court records show that Baez’s offense involved inappropriate and unlawful physical contact with a young female victim. The incident occurred in Massachusetts, where local authorities arrested and prosecuted Baez. After being convicted, he served a portion of his sentence in state custody before being transferred to ICE. Due to the nature of the offense, Baez was classified as a public safety threat and prioritized for removal.
ICE officers confirmed that Baez did not possess lawful status in the United States. He had overstayed a nonimmigrant visa and failed to take steps to regularize his status. A final order of removal was issued after immigration proceedings concluded that no form of legal relief or protection applied to his case.
ERO officers coordinated with Dominican officials to arrange Baez’s return. He was deported via commercial flight under escort and transferred to local authorities upon arrival in the Dominican Republic.
ICE has permanently barred Baez from reentering the United States due to his conviction for a felony involving sexual abuse of a minor.
