On February 3, 2025, ICE Detroit arrested Enemias Chilel-Martinez, a 38-year-old citizen of Guatemala. Chilel has been convicted of assault, aggravated assault w/weapon and operating a motor vehicle under the influence and sentenced to 365 days.

In another case, on February 28, 2025, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) San Diego arrested 24-year-old Selvin Perez Thomas, a citizen of Guatemala, during a targeted enforcement action in California.

Perez Thomas had been convicted of several offenses, including driving under the influence, hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, and conspiracy to file a fraudulent insurance claim. His convictions stemmed from multiple incidents involving reckless behavior and fraudulent activity.

ICE records indicate that Perez Thomas had unlawfully entered the United States without inspection and had previously come to the attention of immigration authorities. Despite his criminal convictions, he remained in the country until his arrest in late February. He was taken into ICE custody without incident and was processed for removal.

At the time of his arrest, he did not have any pending appeals or legal avenues to remain in the U.S. He is currently being held at an ICE detention facility in California.
