Enock Kaneza/Dem Rep Of The Congo/Assault

Democratic Republic of the Congo national Enock Kaneza was arrested in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after authorities identified him as the suspect in a recent assault incident reported in the city. Officers took Kaneza into custody following an investigation into the reported attack, in which the victim described being physically struck and requested police assistance at the scene.

Kaneza was booked into local jail on an assault charge while the case is reviewed by prosecutors for potential formal filing in state court. Because he is a foreign national, federal immigration officials have also been notified and will determine whether to issue an immigration detainer that could keep him in custody for potential removal proceedings after the criminal case concludes.
